How to make vegan biscuits?
I recently discovered a recipe for simply a cake mix using soda pop to replace the eggs and other things that are added, and made the best cake I have ever had, and completely vegan too! I was wondering if anyone would know if this same method would work for making biscuits with Bisquick (which PETA says is vegan under its I Can’t Believe its Vegan page.) using maybe a small amount of club soda or something similar to make them moist and fluffy? Thanks.
Oh yum that sounds great! That would go well with the pot of soup I just made….

Most from-scratch biscuit batters don’t have eggs in them, so just swap out the milk for soy or rice milk and use vegan butter in the recipe. If you want them moist and fluffy add extra baking powder and a little soy yogurt. If you want a sweet biscuit, add some raisins.

In health I have to cook something and bring it in to class. I don’t really want to make brownies or cake etc.. Because everybody else is going to think to do that. So what should I do. Get some ice cream cones,fill 3/4 full with cake mix,bake 350-375. Wait for the cake to cool then frost. Lay some m&m on the frosting or confeiti candy or even gum drops.

As long as I can remember I have took much pleasure from baking. In my early childhood I found it an exciting treat, to this day it still stirs that emotion in me. In this narrative essay I highlight my reasons to why it continues to be a big part of my life.
My first memories of baking is with my Nana pops, my maternal grandmother, who I seem to remember was always in the kitchen. An uncomplicated woman, she was in every sense the ‘perfect’ housewife, who favoured to use traditional tools for the job. Every Saturday she would get out her fantastic, old fashioned, emerald green scales. As a young girl I would spend hours playing with the weights, delighting in being allowed to touch something so grown up. I was very fortunate to have two grandmothers who loved to bake, as is common with alot of their generation, and was often indulged in this glorious hobby.
Baking invokes such sweet memories for me and this is something I am keen to pass onto my son and godchildren. I enjoy nothing more than reaching for my nana’s old scales and baking with the children on a weekend. It is such a joy to see the delight in a child’s face when they taste their freshly baked bread or sweet chocolate cakes. My sons favourite is our chocolate crispy cakes, my own secret recipe, which we will make on many a night and eat in front of the fire while reading fairy tales.
I find baked goods are a gift that most people will enjoy and appreciate. I have found that children love to bake for adult family members, my son certainly does, and feel it is a gift that is solely from them. I often like to make friends and family members a birthday cake relevant to their interests. In the past I have made a range of cakes from a fantastic tardis for 30 to a spectacular fairytale castle. However I do not limit my baking to special occasions and will often make cakes and fresh bread when I have visitors. I feel there is no greater smell, than that of freshly baked food.
Like everyone I have my favourite recipes.I adore chocolate fudge cake, I must admit this is the one cake that will never last long in my house, but it proves very detrimental to my waste line. I delight in the smell of freshly baked bread, the mere thought makes my mouth water. I always enjoy freshly baked produce a lot more than mere shop bought items, maybe this is because the anticipation of the baking always seems to make it taste that much sweeter.
Although I adore baking and find it a very tranquil hobby I must admit it does suffer from one huge draw back, the washing up. I detest washing up, I find it bore some, irritating, tiring, in general a horrid chore. I vow to myself that when funds allow I will purchase a dish washer and know when that time comes that my house will always have a smell that invokes such stronger, idyllic childhood memories.
Baking truly is a part of me and has always been. It reminds me of simpler happy times, of a nana sadly gone and most of all stirring memories of times gone by. I feel that baking is a major part of my family and hope that when my son grows it will be a passion that he will pass on to his own children.

Apple sauce with cinnamon, and/or mashed potatoes with gravy go awesome with pork chops.
As far as junk food/candy goes, I can suggest chips and cheese–Melt any type of cheese you want (block, shredded, anything really) and dip tortilla chips in it. What about those things, I think they’re called Popables? Got ‘em a few years ago (yeah, that’s how long it’s been since I’ve eaten candy lol) so I”m not sure if they still make ‘em. But they had ‘em in Reeses Pieces, and a few other varieties. Combos were also good. Cool Ranch Doritos were good ’til I over did it on ‘em, haha.
My favorite dip lately is I take salsa and put a can of black beans in it–Dip chips into it, and it’s so filling it’s almost a meal!
Or, what about guacamole? Tons of recipes online for it.
Favorite movie: The Fountain is right up there. As are Imaginary Heroes, The Butterfly Effect, The Triplets of Belleville, and American Beauty. Gave ya a few ’cause I don’t know what you guys are in to.

my daughter will be turning 8 in June-this is the party we have planned for her (luau theme at our home). there are 18 kids invited…

-our front walkway will be scattered w/flowers and the door will be draped with leis and green streamers to walk through

BALLOON POP: there will be 2 kiddie pools in the backyard filled with water and balloons. the kids will divide into 2 teams. each kid takes a turn trying to sit on the balloons to pop them. first team to pop the most after 7 mins wins (or longer if the kids want to keep going).
SLEEPPANTS RELAY: kids divide into 2 teams. there will be a bucket of water and a pair of my bf’s sleep pants for each team. each team member has to dip the pants into the bucket of water then run across the porch and back, peel of the pants and hand them to the next player. first team to finish wins.
SPRINKER TAG: there will be 4 sprinklers set up around the yard. the kids run around the yard but have to stop when the sprinklers are turned on-they can’t move again until the water shuts off.

Cute idea! This is what i did for my 10th birthday i think! What we did was we went to the dollar store and bought about 30 hula skirts! And each friend got one but we had about 10 left over so we just cut the elastic and made it into a table skirt! And OMG those cakes are just so priceless! The sandal one is sooo cute but the hula one i just SWOONED over! So gorgeous but it looks like a LOT of work!
the games sound perfect for 9 year olds and i think that they will have a lot of fun! And for party favors also include maybe a lei or something and you can fill the tiki cup (if you dont want it anymore) with candy and then put it in the loot bag! another fun activity i did was we decorated sandals! We just bought some at the dollarstore and colored them haha it gave us something to do!

I used to be cool.
I found out this morning when I looked in the mirror and found myself wearing a cardigan with my hair in a ponytail, with my nose stud missing. Right before I logged on to a Christian mommy forum.
The first thing that popped into my head was. “omg. I looked up frugal recipes yesterday. I decided I wanted to decorate a cake by hand for fun. and the other day, and I was window shopping at gymboree while looking at the magazine babytalk.
Two years ago, I would have been listening to blue october, making hemp chokers, and shopping for clothes at soul flower. Do you ever feel like as a parent you’ve lost yourself in societys mumbo jumbo?
The other day I got irritated with a telemarketer and I said “I’m getting tired of these beaches and their sheets.” And there were no kids around.

Oh yes. I prowl the supermarket waiting for cleaning products or bread to come on sale ‘so I know I’ve got a bargain.’ The highlights of my day are washing my daughter’s clothes and answering questions in Newborn and Baby. Um, and I am deadly serious.
Before I had Alissa, I would be catching up with friends, going shopping, getting my hair done or just doing something for ME. Now, I can’t go out to lunch because Alissa will cry, nothing fits me when I go shopping so there’s no point, and I don’t have the time or motivation to do anything for ME.

my daughter is turning 8 next month and we have a luau party planned for her and 18 friends/family. here are the details:
decorations:
front yard will have 2 signs that have pink flamingos on them holding signs that say “luau party”.
front walkway will be littered w/flowers and front door will have a poster on it w/a parrot and pink flamingo.
table w/have a real pineapple in the center w/balloons attached to it, hibiscus flowers will be hung all over the walls, and luau themed confetti will be on the table too.
her little sister will greet guests at the door and hand them their leis as they walk in.
each child will also get a plastic tiki drinking cup w/straws that have umbrellas attached to them.
